Reckless driving results in collision on R24 west

This morning (19 September) at approximately 9:15 a Nissan Micra and a Mercedes C-class collided on the R24 west before Gillooly’s interchange near Bedfordview. The driver of the Nissan Micra alleged that the driver of the Mercedes was driving recklessly before the collision occurred.

The Matrix Road Safety Association response vehicle arrived on scene and the Emer-G-Med paramedics assessed the drivers for any injuries as well as closed down a single lane for the safety of the drivers of the vehicles involved.

Terence Teixeira from the Matrix Road Safety Association says the driver of the Mercedes was immobilised by emergency services as he had a previous spinal injury and was experiencing pain and tenderness in the spinal region.

“Drivers need to slow down and be cautious of other drivers in their vicinity, especially on highways,” says Teixeira. “If you see a driver is being reckless, rather move aside and let them pass. Matching aggressive driving with aggression is always a recipe for disaster. Rather remain calm and get out of the way,” he suggests.
