The 2013 Maritzburg Marathon took place at 05:00AM on Sunday 24 February. The marathon has become KZN’s most popular race with athletes being able to run or walk. An increasing amount of Comrades runners choose to use this race as their qualifier and as such, the popularity of the race is growing year on year. Typically the race provides two options for athletes, a 21.1km half marathon or a full marathon of 42.2km, this year also included a 10km race and prizes and refreshments were in abundance.
A new entrant to the marathon was Matrix, in a tracking all time first and an affirmation that we’re always right by your side, whatever the situation. As an official sponsor of the race, gazebo’s offering shade, cold water; snacks and moral support were set up along the course. Colleagues from Midrand, KZN and our Fitment Centre’s joined together to assist the athletes and provide support to them where needed. What an honour it was to provide assistance to these exemplary athletes running for a cause, namely Community Chest, Pink Drive, MBTM and Wheatfield Mission and indeed what a privilege for Matrix to be on the scene
